The Social Equity Centre, an equity-led not-for-profit organisation dedicated to amplifying the voices of diverse communities in policymaking, is thrilled to announce the launch of its Equity Advisory Board. This board is a key part of our commitment to fostering inclusivity and driving meaningful change through fair and equitable practices.

Founded in July 2023, the Social Equity Centre is guided by the belief that true inclusivity is essential for creating a just society. The establishment of the Equity Advisory Board is a significant step forward in our mission to challenge existing perspectives, mitigate biases, and broaden our understanding of diversity. The board will serve as a vital consultative body, convening quarterly to provide insights and guidance on our three-year grant that we have secured from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and enhance our future work.

Welcoming a Diverse and Experienced Board

We are proud to introduce the inaugural members of the Equity Advisory Board, each of whom brings a wealth of experience, cultural diversity, and professional expertise:

  • Assen Slavchev, Roma Adviser for Settled and Senior Support and Empowerment Officer at Luton Roma Trust, offers extensive knowledge in advocacy and empowerment for Roma communities.
  • Chris Murray, CEO of Young Brent Foundation, is an expert in youth engagement and community development, offering invaluable insights into the needs of young people and grassroots organisations.
  • Sarah Pinch, Managing Director of Pinch Point Communications and Chair of the Taylor Bennett Foundation, provides strategic expertise in communications and leadership diversity.
  • Son Olszewski, WeVote Campaign Organiser for POMOC, is a passionate advocate for migrant rights and community organising, with a focus on Eastern European migrants.

These four board members represent a broad spectrum of professional backgrounds and cultural perspectives, making the board a truly diverse and inclusive body. Their collective experience will be instrumental in shaping the Social Equity Centre's efforts to promote inclusivity across all of our initiatives.

First inaugural meeting of the Board

The first meeting of the Equity Advisory Board took place on the 17th  of September 2024.This inaugural gathering set the stage for collaborative discussions, where board members exchanged ideas and helped chart the course for Social Equity Centre's future. We are excited to see the positive impact that this board will have on our organisation and the communities we serve.
